Prince William and Princess Kate may soon face another delicate family test, this time not involving Prince Andrew, but Princess Eugenie. The 35-year-old royal is reportedly considering a move to California in search of a fresh start and greater happiness for herself and her family.
According to reports, Eugenie has endured a challenging period marked by ongoing royal tensions and the lingering fallout from past scandals connected to her father, Prince Andrew.
Sources suggest that Eugenie, who has long maintained a close relationship with Prince Harry, is contemplating a future that could bring her geographically and personally closer to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The potential relocation to the United States would not only mark a significant life change but could also redefine her role within the royal family.
However, such a move may come at a steep cost.
Since the controversy surrounding Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, the Prince and Princess of Wales have reportedly offered Eugenie support but only to a point. As Closer reported, William and Kate “have been supportive, but it’s clear there are very real limits,” particularly when it comes to any reconciliation involving Harry and Meghan.
An insider warned of serious consequences should Eugenie choose to formally align herself with the Sussexes. “If she does follow through and start working for Harry and Meghan, it will likely spell the end of any relationship with William and Kate,” the source claimed.
Publicly siding with Harry and Meghan is reportedly the “last thing” Eugenie wants, especially given her existing ties to senior royals. Still, she is said to be drawn toward those who openly support her and according to the insider, that support has come from the Sussexes.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have allegedly offered Eugenie several possibilities that could help her step away from the pressures she currently faces. These options are believed to include professional opportunities and a new beginning in California, where the Sussexes have built their post-royal lives.
Yet the emotional repercussions of such a decision could be profound. “But at the same time, the emotional fallout this will create if she’s seen to suddenly be ‘team Sussex’ is massive; it really will be the end of life as she knows it,” the source added.
