Ingredients
* 6 slices crusty sourdough or French bread
* 2 large tomatoes, sliced
* 8 oz (225 g) fresh mozzarella, sliced
* 2 tablespoons olive oil
* 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
* ½ teaspoon garlic powder
* Salt and black pepper, to taste
* Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
* Balsamic glaze (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Arrange the bread slices on a baking tray and brush lightly with olive oil.
3. Bake for 4–5 minutes until lightly toasted.
4. Top each slice with mozzarella, a tomato slice, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
5. Return to the oven and bake for 6–8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
6. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and drizzle with balsamic glaze, if desired.
